I am a Ph.D. candidate in philosophy at Duke University, completing my dissertation under the supervision of David Wong.

The central question I explore through my research is: How can we become better people? To address it, I bring different traditions and disciplines into constructive dialogues. My dissertation focuses on Aristotle and early Confucians including Kongzi, Mengzi and Xunzi. Teaching is also an essential part of my academic life. I am passionate about sharing the joy of doing philosophy with individuals from all backgrounds.

I was born and raised in Chengdu, the vibrant capital of Sichuan Province in southwestern China, a region famed for its pandas and spicy cuisine. After completing my first year of high school, I moved to Boston and finished my high school studies in the Newman School. I earned my B.A. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I developed an interest in the humanities during my senior year. Eager to explore this interest, I pursued an M.A. in Liberal Studies at Duke University—a decision that transformed my life. I fell in love with philosophy and, more importantly, with my wife. To deepen my understanding of philosophy, I went on to complete an M.A. in Philosophy at Georgia State University.

Outside of the academic life, I enjoy playing soccer, rock climbing, playing Go, and spending time with my family.
